Rising dramatically from the Rift Valley floor, Ol Doinyo Lengai (2,962 meters) is an active volcano and sacred site to the Maasai people, known as the “Mountain of God.” This is the only active carbonatite volcano in the world, and one of the most unique trekking experiences in East Africa.

Located near Lake Natron in northern Tanzania, Ol Doinyo Lengai offers a challenging overnight climb, surreal volcanic landscapes, and a rare chance to witness live volcanic activity from the crater rim.

Trekking Overview

1-Day / Overnight Trek (12–14 hours round-trip)

• Evening: Depart from camp near Lake Natron around 11:00 PM

• Midnight–4:00 AM: Steep night ascent to the summit

• Dawn: Watch the sunrise from the crater rim (2,962 m)

• Morning: Descend in daylight and return to camp by late morning
